Discretion as Respect

What is shared in confidence must stay there. Always.

Vulnerability requires safety. People will only reveal what truly matters to them if they believe it will be protected.

Discretion is not just about secrecy. It is a form of respect — a recognition that someone's inner life belongs to them, and that you have been trusted with a part of it.

Breaking a confidence does more than cause embarrassment. It teaches the other person that openness is dangerous, and that lesson is hard to unlearn.

Keep what you are told. It is the quietest proof of your character.
