Shame, Curiosity and Self-Knowledge

Your interests are not a verdict on your character. They are information.

Many people arrive at these ideas carrying shame — the sense that wanting power, or wanting to give it away, says something bad about them.

Research suggests otherwise. Interest in power exchange is common, and people who explore it consensually tend to score as well as anyone on measures of wellbeing.

Curiosity is not a confession. It is an invitation to understand yourself better: what calms you, what excites you, what you need.

Approach your own mind with the same patience you would offer anyone else.
